About Excel to PDF
Handing someone a spreadsheet often means a PDF they cannot edit by accident. Add an .xlsx, .xls or .csv file and every sheet is printed in turn: the sheet name as a heading, then its cells in a bordered table, all on Letter pages. Values come through as text rather than as the live workbook, and formatting such as colors, charts and column widths is not carried over. Formula cells that were never calculated show the formula itself.
Features
- Reads .xlsx, .xls and .csv files
- Every sheet in the workbook is included, each under its own sheet name
- Formula cells with no saved result show their formula text, with a notice
- Empty workbooks and renamed non-spreadsheet files are rejected with a clear message
- The workbook is read and drawn in your browser, with no server upload
Limitations
- Files can be up to 25 MB.
- The output is always a Letter-size PDF with plain bordered tables; colors, fonts, charts, images and column widths are not reproduced.
- Only Latin characters can be drawn, so a sheet containing other scripts stops the conversion with a message.
- Downloading the PDF needs a free account.
How it works
- Drop an XLSX, XLS or CSV file onto the upload area, or browse for it.
- Wait while the workbook is read. Conversion starts as soon as the file is chosen.
- If a notice says some formula cells had no saved value, save the workbook in your spreadsheet app so results are stored, then upload it again.
- Select Download PDF. The file keeps your spreadsheet's name with a .pdf ending.
Frequently asked questions
- Yes. All sheets are converted in workbook order, each starting with its sheet name as a heading. There is no setting to pick a single sheet, so delete the sheets you do not want from the workbook first.
- Those cells have a formula but no saved result, which happens when a file is generated or edited without recalculation. The tool shows the formula text and a notice with the count. Open and save the workbook to store the results.
- Yes. Files ending in .csv are accepted if they contain text, and they appear as a single table. Text files with other extensions are rejected as not being spreadsheets.
- No. This converter always uses Letter paper in portrait orientation, and there are no page setup options for size, orientation or margins.
