About Image Cropper

Avatars, thumbnails and banners all want a particular shape. Instead of a draggable box this cropper works in numbers: the four fields start at the full image, and the ratio buttons set the largest centered area that fits. You then nudge X and Y to slide the area, or change the width and height, and the crop is cut on our servers. The result keeps the format of the file you uploaded.

Features

  • Crop box set by X, Y, width and height in pixels
  • Ratio presets for 1:1, 4:3, 16:9, 3:2 and 9:16
  • Presets center the largest area that fits the image
  • Checks the area stays inside the image before it enables the button
  • Output keeps the format of the upload

Limitations

  • There is no draggable selection on the picture; you set the crop with numbers.
  • Typing a new width or height switches the ratio back to Free, so a preset is not kept while you edit it.
  • JPG and WebP results are re-encoded at a fixed quality of 95 and EXIF tags are not copied. Uploads can be up to 60 MB.
  • Downloading the cropped file needs a free account; without one you see a reduced-size preview.

How it works

  1. Drop a JPG, PNG or WebP file onto the upload area, or browse for it.
  2. Optionally click a ratio: Free, 1:1, 4:3, 16:9, 3:2 or 9:16. The crop area jumps to the largest centered rectangle with that shape.
  3. Adjust X and Y, the distance in pixels from the left and top edges, and the Width and Height of the area.
  4. Select Crop Image once no red error message is showing.
  5. Compare the cropped result with the original, then press Download.
