About QR Code Generator
A link printed on a poster, a menu or a business card is only useful if people can scan it. Type or paste a URL or any short text, and a QR code appears and redraws a moment after you stop typing. A slider sets the image size, the text under the code shows exactly what is encoded, and Download PNG saves it as qrcode.png at the chosen size. The modules are dark navy on white, with the library's default medium error correction.
Features
- Live preview that redraws as you type
- Size slider from 128 to 512 pixels in steps of 32
- Shows the exact encoded text beneath the code
- PNG download named qrcode.png
- Dark navy modules on a white background
Limitations
- Output is PNG only, with no SVG, color or logo options, and the error-correction level is fixed at the library default.
- The box takes one line of text and encodes it as typed. There is no form for Wi-Fi, vCard, email or phone codes, so those need their standard text format typed by hand.
- At this error-correction level about 2,331 characters of plain English text fit, fewer with accented or non-Latin letters, and longer input shows an error instead of a code.
- Downloading the PNG needs a free account; making and previewing the code does not.
How it works
- Type or paste a link or any text into Text or URL. The box starts with a sample address.
- Drag the Size slider between 128 and 512 pixels. The label shows the current size.
- Check the preview and the line of text beneath it, which shows exactly what the code contains.
- Scan the preview with a phone before you print it.
- Select Download PNG to save qrcode.png. A signed-out visitor is asked to sign in or create a free account first.
- Use Reset to clear the box and the image.
Example input
https://auratools.devFrequently asked questions
- Anything you can type on one line: a web address, plain text, an email address. Start a link with https:// so scanners treat it as one. Wi-Fi, mailto: and tel: codes work if you type the standard string yourself, since nothing on this page builds it for you.
- The preview disappears and a message appears saying the amount of data is too big to be stored in a QR Code. Shorten the text. Accented and non-Latin letters take more room than plain English letters, so they hit the limit sooner.
- The slider sets the width and height of the PNG in pixels, including a small white border. A PNG is a bitmap, so choose the largest size you may need and shrink it when you lay out the page, rather than stretching a small file and softening the edges.
- Making and previewing a code is open to guests. Pressing Download PNG asks a guest to sign in or create a free account, and the download then resumes by itself with the same code, so nothing has to be typed again.
- No. The qrcode library runs in your browser and the image is built there, so the text is not uploaded. The Share button copies only the address of the tool. Anyone who scans the printed code can read what is in it, so avoid putting secrets in it.
