About PDF to JPG
Slides, invoices and scanned forms often have to go somewhere that takes pictures but not PDFs. Choose a JPEG quality and every page is drawn at twice its normal size and encoded as its own JPG. You get a thumbnail grid to check the pages, a download button under each one and, for multi-page files, a single ZIP of the lot. File names start with your PDF's name and end with the page number.
Features
- One JPG for every page
- Adjustable JPEG quality, from 30% upward in steps of 5
- Pages drawn at twice their normal size
- Download a single page or every page in one ZIP
- Files named after your PDF with the page number added
Limitations
- Every page is converted, with no way to pick a range, so extract the pages you need first if you want fewer images.
- All page images are held in memory at once, so a very long or large-format PDF may be slow to convert.
- There is no resolution setting: size is fixed at twice the page size, and the slider changes compression only.
- Files up to 50 MB are accepted, and every image or ZIP download needs a free account.
How it works
- Add the PDF; its size appears under the file name.
- Move the JPEG quality slider, which starts at 90% and goes as low as 30%.
- Select Convert to JPG and wait while every page is drawn.
- Check the thumbnails, then use a Page button for one image or Download All as ZIP for the set.
Frequently asked questions
- Convert the file, then press the Page button under the thumbnail you want. For a long document it is quicker to extract that page into its own PDF first, so only one page has to be drawn.
- The slider starts at 90%. Lower values make smaller JPGs with more visible compression artifacts around small text and line art, and the lowest setting is 30%. If the pages are going to be read on screen, try a lower value and compare.
- A single image is named after the PDF with a dash and the page number, like report-3.jpg. The ZIP is the PDF's name plus -pages.zip and holds one JPG per page named the same way. A one-page PDF downloads as a JPG directly.
- No. Each page is drawn on a canvas in your browser by pdf.js and encoded there, and the ZIP is built in the page as well. The account step only applies when you press a download button.
