About Full Site Audit
A single-page report can miss problems on the pages visitors reach next. Enter a start URL, choose 3, 5 or 10 pages, and our server audits the start page, then the same-site links it finds on that page, up to the number you chose. Every page gets the same rule-based audit as the Website SEO checker, and you see an average score, counts of healthy, warning and problem pages, and a score for each URL. The audit runs as a background job, and the page asks for its status every two seconds.
Features
- Audits the start page plus same-site links found on it
- Page count choice of 3, 5 or 10
- Average score with healthy, warning and problem counts
- A score for each page, with links that open in a new tab
- Pages that fail are listed with the reason instead of stopping the run
Limitations
- This is not a crawler. Only links on the start page are used, on the same host and in the order they appear, so pages reachable only through other pages are missed, and www and non-www count as different hosts.
- The page count is a maximum of 10. A site whose start page links to fewer internal pages returns fewer than you asked for.
- Each IP address can start 2 site audits per hour, and a finished result is kept for 10 minutes.
- Only the HTML the server receives is read: links added by JavaScript are not found, and robots.txt rules are not applied when choosing pages.
How it works
- Enter the start URL; https:// is added if you leave it out.
- Choose how many pages to audit: 3, 5 or 10, with 5 selected to begin with.
- Press Start Audit. Our server queues a background job and the page checks on it every two seconds.
- Read the summary: pages audited out of pages requested, the average score, and counts of healthy, warning and problem pages.
- Scan the Pages list for each URL's score and open any page in a new tab, then check the section for pages that could not be audited.
- Run the Website SEO Checker on a listed page for its full breakdown.
Example input
https://example.comFrequently asked questions
- It audits the start URL first, then collects links from that page's HTML that stay on the same host, skipping anchors, mailto, tel and javascript links. They are audited in the order they appear, up to your chosen count, with duplicates and #fragments ignored.
- By each page's score: 75 or above is healthy, 55 to 74 is a warning, and below 55 is a problem. The average score is the mean across the pages that were audited.
- The count is a maximum. If the start page has fewer same-host links, or some cannot be fetched, the summary shows fewer pages than requested, and failed URLs are listed under Could not be audited with the reason.
- Site audits are limited to two per hour from one IP address, because each run fetches several pages. The message says roughly how long to wait. Single-page audits have their own separate limit.
- The result, meaning URLs, scores and counts but not page HTML, is held for 10 minutes so your browser can fetch it, then it expires. Our server requests each page itself, so the URLs you enter are sent to it.
