About Background Remover
A product shot on a cluttered table, a headshot for a profile page and a logo sitting on a white box all need the subject separated from what is behind it. Upload the image, choose Transparent, White or a custom color, and the server returns a PNG at the original resolution. Photos go through a U²-Net segmentation model, while images on a plain backdrop are cut out by color, which handles logos and flat graphics more cleanly.
Features
- Transparent, white or custom-color background
- U²-Net segmentation for photos, run on our own servers
- Color keying for logos and graphics on a plain backdrop
- Result returned at the original image resolution
- Images that already have transparency are recognized and kept
Limitations
- Using it may need credits or a paid plan, and downloading the PNG needs a free account.
- Fine detail such as hair or fur, and low-contrast edges, are the most likely to show imperfections, and there is no brush to touch up the cutout afterwards.
- Uploads can be up to 60 MB; photos longer than 3,200 px on a side are cut out at a reduced working size and scaled back, so edges can be slightly softer.
- The output is always a PNG, even when you choose a white or custom background.
How it works
- Upload a JPG, PNG or WebP image with a clear subject.
- Choose the background: Transparent, White or Custom, and pick the color if you choose Custom.
- Select Remove background and wait while the server separates the subject.
- Compare the cutout with the original in the preview.
- Download the PNG, or choose another image.
Frequently asked questions
- Yes. Choose White or Custom before you run it and the subject is placed on that solid color. The file is still a PNG, but it has no transparent areas, which suits marketplaces and forms that reject transparency.
- The server detects real transparency and keeps it instead of cutting the image a second time. If you also picked White or Custom, that color is placed behind the existing transparent areas.
- When almost the whole border of the image is one smooth backdrop, the server removes that backdrop by color, which keeps flat edges crisp. Photos with a busy surround go through the segmentation model, and soft, thin detail is harder for it.
- No. Segmentation runs on our own servers with a bundled model, and there is no call to an outside image service. The upload is still sent to us for processing, and the result is kept for a limited time so you can download it.
