React Frontend Developer

From HTML basics to a production React application.

A path through the fundamentals, into React specifically, and out to the surrounding ecosystem you'll need on a real team.

  1. 1

    Web fundamentals

The foundation everything else builds on — this isn't optional, even if you're eager to get to React.

    • • HTML semantics and accessibility basics
    • • CSS layout (Flexbox, Grid) and responsive design
    • • JavaScript fundamentals: functions, arrays/objects, async/await, the DOM API
  2. 2

    Version control

You'll use this on every project, professional or personal, from here on.

    • • Git basics: commits, branches, merging
    • • Working with GitHub: pull requests, code review basics
  3. 3

    React core

The library itself — components, state, and the patterns that hold a real application together.

    • • Components, props, and JSX
    • • State and the useState/useEffect hooks
    • • Component composition and lifting state up
    • • Forms and controlled inputs
  4. 4

    The surrounding ecosystem

React alone doesn't ship a full app — these fill in routing, data fetching, and styling.

    • • Routing (React Router)
    • • Data fetching and caching (TanStack Query or similar)
    • • A styling approach (Tailwind CSS, CSS Modules, or styled-components)
    • • State management for larger apps (Zustand, Redux Toolkit) once you feel the need for it
  5. 5

    Going full-stack (optional)

For SEO, server rendering, or a project that needs a backend of its own.

    • • Next.js for server-side rendering and file-based routing
    • • Basic API design and calling a backend from your frontend
